"Wanderer" achieved a respectable 10,000 Euro
"Neue Presse Coburg", Rodental, page 14, Monday, 20 October 2008 - It was a sensation: The auction of a giant special edition (84 cm / 34 in) "Merry Wanderer with Guitar and Sheet Music", produced especially for this occasion, brought in 10,000 Euro.
In an overflowing Goebel dining facility, Mr. J.F. from Regensburg County in Germany placed the highest bid, much to the delight of Club Manager William Nelson. All active members of the M.I. Hummel Club were eligible to take part in the auction, 200,000 worldwide.
The entire proceeds from the auction go to the fund "Help for Children in Kenya." As highlighted by William Nelson, incidentally an American from Rhode Island who resides in Ebersdorf by Coburg, the fund was founded by Roger Whittaker's son-in-law.
For the last Time - Melancholy could be felt in the air and was mentioned by the Club Manager's wife, Natascha Nelson, Town Councilwoman in Ebersdorf.
It was a sad day and even some tears were shed: The Hummel Club Get-Together was held for the last time under the auspices of Goebel Porzellanmanufaktur. Her husband managed the Club for 22 years.
